New York, NY – (May 21, 2007) – Wimba today announced that Yancy Oshita has joined the education technology leader as vice president of marketing and a member of its executive team.
Oshita will be responsible for positioning the company’s strategy in the education market, expanding the company’s leadership position, and advancing the Wimba brand. He will oversee global strategy, product and industry marketing, corporate marketing, and business development. “Yancy is a proven marketing executive at some of the world’s most successful software companies,” said Tommaso Trionfi, CEO of Wimba. “His track record of setting business strategy, building brand value, and achieving market leadership will bring vigorous focus and new energy to our marketing efforts. We’re excited about the experience and perspective Yancy brings to Wimba.”
Oshita brings to Wimba more than 23 years of broad experience with industry icons and technology start-ups. He joins Wimba from MobileGates, where he was chief operating officer. He was instrumental in repositioning the company from a software provider to a mobile advertising network. Previously, Oshita was senior vice president and chief marketing officer of INFONXX, where he spearheaded the industry’s first SMS directory search service. Prior to that, Oshita served six years at Oracle most recently as senior director, Global Strategy and Marketing, where he led the strategy to seize the systems convergence opportunity which resulted in over $400 million in strategic acquisitions. He also was senior managing director, Oracle Consulting. Before Oracle, Oshita held a number of senior marketing, product management, and sales roles at Teradata and NCR.

Oshita received his master’s degree in management information systems from University of Dayton, and his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge. His research work on information technology implementation success factors is featured in two books.
