Wimba Launches Publishing Services Division To Benefit Publishers, Instructors, Students

New York, NY – (April 12, 2007) – Wimba, the education technology company that helps people teach people, today launched its Publishing Services division to better address the content and collaboration needs of educational publishers, instructors and students.

On the premise that a textbook isn’t simply a textbook anymore, but rather part of a collection of learning materials tailored by the demands of a school’s professors and students, the Publishing Services division was established to help leading educational publishers create compelling online instructional and assessment content, and to enhance that content with networked collaborative capabilities.

“Our expertise with collaborative technologies continues to grow steadily along with the demand for our content services among academic publishing companies,” said Tommaso Trionfi, CEO of Wimba. “Working from our strategic position among educators, publishers and learners, we look to bring value to all three.”

Wimba Publishing Services will deliver the full range of the company’s products, building on the Brownstone publishing-oriented Diploma and EDU assessment and homework management products and services. The division is backed by a professional services team of data preparation specialists, authors, developers and product managers to tailor Wimba products to specific publisher needs.

Donovan Lytle will serve as Vice President, Wimba Publishing Services, leading the division with Mack Brown, Senior Director, Publishing Services and Brian Reed, Director, Publishing Services.

With the launch of this new division, Wimba is optimally positioned to deliver leading technology solutions to publishers and educational institutions.
