Wimba Collaboration Suite Selected as 2008 SIIA Codie Awards Finalist

New York, NY – (February 27, 2008) – Wimba, the education technology company that helps people teach people, today announced that the Wimba Collaboration Suite™ has been selected as a 2008 Codie Awards finalist. The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Codie Awards celebrate outstanding achievement and vision in the software and digital information and education technology industries. Codie Awards finalists were selected by a panel of industry experts who reviewed the Wimba Collaboration Suite.

“We are honored that the Wimba Collaboration Suite has received this prestigious recognition and are particularly grateful for the time the judges volunteered to review and learn about Wimba’s solutions,” said Yancy Oshita, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President at Wimba.

The Wimba Collaboration Suite features a series of integrated solutions that facilitate the use of online video, voice, chat, application sharing and white boarding. Integrating these tools into traditionally static, text-based online courses enhances the learning experience through greater collaboration and interaction.

“Competition is tough this year and that makes selection as a Codie Finalist a real achievement,” said Ken Wash, SIIA president. “All the companies on this year’s list should feel justifiably proud of their recognition.”

Next, SIIA members will vote on the finalists to select winners in each of the 68 categories of outstanding products and services. The 2008 Codie Awards will be presented at a gala event on May 20th.

Products in the Wimba Collaboration Suite include Wimba Classroom, Wimba Pronto, an academic centric instant messaging application, Wimba Voice, which facilitates and promotes vocal instruction, and Wimba Create. The Wimba Collaboration Suite works seamlessly within an institution’s existing virtual learning environment (VLE) / course management system (CMS) so instructors never need a new username or password and never have to leave their familiar online course environments.
