American Council on Education Fellows Program Adopts Wimba Solutions for Robust Collaboration

Next-Generation of Education Leaders Benefits from Peer Collaboration with Wimba Classroom™ and Wimba Pronto™

NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, DC – June 29, 2010 – Wimba® Inc., a leading provider of collaborative solutions for educators around the world, and the American Council on Education (ACE), today announced that ACE Fellows Program participants – beginning with the class of 2010-2011 – will use Wimba Classroom™ and Wimba Pronto™ to enhance instruction and team-based learner collaboration during their year-long program.

Renowned as North America’s premier higher education leadership development program since 1965, the ACE Fellows Program brings together vice presidents, deans, department chairs, faculty and other emerging leaders for training, peer-networking, collaborative learning, practical experience and mentorships. Using Wimba, geographically dispersed participants on many different campuses can now more easily and effectively meet and work together.

“Although many components of our program include in-person meetings, much of the work among the Fellows takes place while they are at different locations across the country, so we are thrilled to offer this year’s class the robust collaboration enabled by Wimba’s solution,” said Sharon A. McDade, Fellows Program Director. “By extending the benefits of face-to-face interaction throughout the year in Wimba’s virtual environment, Fellows will strengthen working relationships and personal connections with their peers and mentors while realizing time-saving efficiencies as they work together.”

Already used by hundreds of thousands of learners around the world, Wimba Classroom is a live, virtual classroom environment with robust features that include audio, video, application sharing, content display and MP4 capabilities, making it the perfect venue for ACE’s regularly scheduled large group meetings.  For informal meetings, Fellows can now use Wimba Pronto, a collaboration platform for instant one-on-one or team communication.

“The ACE Fellows Program is renowned for developing exceptional leaders in education – as evidenced by the more than 300 of its 1600 graduates who have served as chief executive officers over the last forty-five years,” said Karen Gage, co-Chief Operating Officer at Wimba.  “We couldn’t be more pleased that our solutions will add to the efficiencies and effectiveness of the way participants meet and collaborate together, ultimately enriching their experience.”
