Presenter: Marilyn Underwood, Ed. D. Executive Director of Staff Development, Marion County Public Schools & Christine Osborne, Janet Gaa, and Leeane Wood, Cobb County School District
Although many K12 budgets continue to decrease and travel becomes too expensive, most schools and districts are still tasked with offering highly-effective professional development and teacher training to ensure their instructors and staff remain prepared and competitive. Join Marilyn Underwood of the Marion County Public Schools (FL) and Christine Osborne and her team from the Cobb County School District (GA) to learn how they’ve used Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Collaborate, respectively, to increase the effectiveness of their professional development programs while simultaneously decreasing the costs it takes to do so. Underwood will discuss how her team uses Blackboard Learn to provide trainings to the greatest number of people possible, while the team from Cobb County will discuss how live online professional development via Blackboard Collaborate saves their district more than $20,000 annually while reaching thousands of teachers at 115 schools spanning over 70 miles in suburban Atlanta.
