Okay, I know that Utah has a robust group of Wimba users and I know some of you, too!!  If you’re reading this, just post a little note hello and tell us all what you’re working on re: Wimba right now.

It’s been a little slower this summer because a lot of faculty are off.  I suspect that as Fall semester approaches I will be busy with getting people trained to use this.  I’m excited about a department head who wants to have his instructors trained in Wimba so that they can offer hybrid classes where one day a week they meet live, and one day a week they will meet on Wimba.  He plans on doubling the offerings of his department, which will grow more revenue and give people more choices re: class.

I am a technology trainer/data mentor with NUES working with five rural school districts. During the summer I am archiving tutorials in my WIMBA classroom that teachers will be able to access at their convenience. In the fall I hope to train all of my teachers in using WIMBA so that they are comfortable with meeting with me online, individually or in groups, so that I will be able to spend more time training and less time traveling.

I know how you feel. Some of the logic and procedures are squeewampus (as my mom would say).
I spent many hours with the WIMBA site tutorials and I had a heck of a time making sense out of the screen sharing. I’m still trying to get my archived lesson to work too. But I think the potential for using Wimba is tremendous. My principals are starting to buy in to getting their people comfortable with WIMBA early on so I can be a ready resource for his teachers. In the long run I think it’s going to make my job a lot easier, at least give me more training and less driving time.

I took notes of the WIMBA quirks that I came across. Let me know if you’d like a copy or any other help.

Best of luck,
Lorrie C

My problem not having a microphone for the computer. I am trying to borrow one for tomorrow. So if I am set properly, I should be able to hear you at this point or only in the classroom with a live presenter?
