Hi

I have been asked to have a look at the new Blackboard Learn system and have been given a 30 test account.  We rely heavily on Wimba Create to make our course units.  Does anyone have any idea how the generated packages from Create get pulled into BB Learn?

We have BB Vista8 at the moment and I usually generate a WebCt ims package and it slots right in—easy!! smile

Thanks

Stewart

Hi Stewart,

Here’s how you do that in Bb9.

1. Create the zip file from Wimba Create
2. Find your way in the course to where you want the activity to show up (eg. Assignments -> Lesson 1)
3. Make sure you are in edit mode (slider in top right)
4. Add an item (first button on tool bar)
5. Give the item a name
6. In the 2nd section “Attach or Link Content” hit browse and select the zip file
7. Under special action select “unpackage this file”
8. Hit submit

That should work for you.. It is the same way you do it in Bb8, but when you are moving from WebCT it’s a different procedure.

Hi Mark

Thanks a lot for that.  A couple of questions come to mind.

What kind of package do I create?

I may not have explained properly what I am wanting to do.  I make a complete course in WC and then usually bring it in to a Learning Module (Vista) this then takes care of navigation etc.  Also it means we can slot discussions and other activities into the learning module.

Is it possible to do this in BBLearn?

Cheers

I have a similar question for Bb 9. What settings do you use in Wimba Create, before generating the course. i want to use SCORM with embedded questions in the content.

I would also like the first page to open up, not a click here.

What navigation settings do I use?

Thanks for the help

Same issue. What format do we select to export it in. My staff have tried the IMS_Webct format, which obviously won’t work and the BlackBoard format. Do we just use the html format? Did anybody ever get an answer to this?

Hi

Thanks for the reply from Wimba—just a pity it took over a year for it to come. :(
