Hi,
I was interested to read your post, and it is good to hear that you are considering Wimba!
Where Wimba sets itself apart is in the suite of tools that it offers. When taken together they can offer considerable synergy, and can help your school to join-up different areas of the learning experience, and to extend learning outside of the classroom.
So, for example, with Wimba Create, (an add-in to MS Word), teachers can author rich, accessible elearning content. Wimba Create can be used to author rich-media assessment items, and learning Flash Cards, both of which can support formative or practice assessments. This content can be made available either via your school’s VLE, or pushed-out through a Wimba Classroom session.
In addition, voice-based activities and assessments can be created using Wimba Voice tools, and are an effective means of providing regular and targeted feedback to your students.
