Hi

I am using Word 2007 and cannot generate a course.
The following is the message I keep getting:
53: File not found
in a ‘wimba create error checkoutputwellformed’ box

I then get the following

The Document has been Exported as an XML File : camera.xml
The file is well-formed.
Generating HTML…
There is a problem. The HTML was not generated

Is there anything I can do, Wimba has been reinstalled (twice).

Thanks

Diane

Diane,

It sounds like there are a couple of key components missing to the document that you are trying to generate from Create .

There are a couple of next steps that I would recommend:

1. Does this happen with all documents or just one particular document?

If this happens in all documents, try removing Wimba Create and reinstall.
If this happens in only one document (more likely), follow the steps outline below:

2. Copy the text from the document and paste into a new document.  Generate a new Create document from the recently Create document. Are you able to generate the copied and pasted document?

3. Can you locate the specific area in the document where the issue occurs?  What happens when you remove this specific portion of the document?

4. If you are unable to resolve this issue, I would recommend that you contact technicalsupport@wimba.com and attach the specified document when you create a support ticket.

Thank you,

James - Wimba Technical Support

I got this error too. It is very annoying. I know what’s happening:

Whenever I take my laptop out of my office, and if I try to use Wimba Create, it will generate this error message. Very weird.

I think the only difference between my office and other locations is the internet connection. ...

I tried to re-install Wimba Create many times, but it still doesn’t work.

help!

I’m getting this error and it’s annoying. I wonder if failure could be due to my NORMAL.DOT file, that is plenty of personal styles, macros…

I have generated a new NORMAL.DOT and the problem keeps on being there, the XML file is generated properly but the HTML is not.

Does this happen with every document or just a specific document?  Would you be willing to attach a sample of the document to your reply?

Hi all,

dpuente and me have found a solution. The destination folder for the files generated should be the Desktop. After you generate the courses, files can be placed manually with your file manager wherever you want to.

This problem with issues 53: it´s with me too.

The solution offer here has been good, but I´d like to put the folder generated where I want and not in desktop, Is there any solution more available?.

Thanks

All I have guessed so far is you should save the folder and the Zip file, when being generated, into the Desktop, unless you want to get our beloved “53: File not found” dialog box.

When the folder and the Zip file are already generated, you can move them into the folder you prefer. But, as far as I know, there is no way to generate the courses directly into a customized destination. Maybe Wimba 2.5.3 is able to do so.  wink

Try using a different Wimba Create scheme and let me know if that doesn’t work.

1. Start Wimba Create
2. Access Wimba Create Settings
3. Under the General tab, select English US - Wimba
4. Generate the document

Hi again!

I´m afraid to say that the problem come back into all my documents, I’m trying to generate with Wimba 2.5.1

Neither put files generated into Desktop , neither changing the configuration, nothing works ....

Where can be the problem?

Thanks for all.

Daniel,

I have sent you a private email requesting specific information.  Once we find a resolution, I will share to this thread.

Thanks jrutkowski. I solved the problem.

My computer is into a great networking place. Wimba put into “Unit C:” the temporaly files when generate content and the error jumps because I don´t have acces to “Unit C”.

With technical support from my job I decided uninstall and re-install but in this time into “Unit:D” where I have complet access, and the problem has disappeared. So, I have not to generate into a desktop anymore.

(PD: Well, I declare too I wrote bad the file and I put a tilde in a word tongue laugh )

Also - for those of you getting this error, please let us know if you have read/execute access to c:\program files\wimba create directory.

If you do have read/execute access and continue to get the error, please let us know.

Also, Any complete screenshots of the error would greatly appreciated because the error is can manifest itself in different ways.  The screenshot will provide us with greater detail as to where we should specifically in tracking down the root cause.

Thank you,
