When I am using wimba classroom and have the talk button locked down it fluctuates up and down and sometimes in the middle of speaking it goes all the way down and students can’t hear me.  Is there anyway of locking this so it doesn’t fluctuate so I can focus on lecturing and not worrying about whether my students can hear me or not.

Thanks,

Matt

We are having the same problem with the microphone cutting out, even though we have put it on lock talk.  The teacher is also promoting students to presenters and they are suppose to present fro 5 min.  They use lock talk but it fades at times.  Any idea what is happening?  I know one person was in our lab and it did it- she was using windows XP, the right java, plantronics headphones.

Exact same thing here.  All the right software, lock talk on, etc.  Hopefully someone knows the answer!

Hello,

We are using and testing Wimba on Coventry University.
It depends how close is your microphone to the speaker and what settings you have on your sound card. There is a setting for example on the sound card and on Wimba as well to detect and reduce noise or whatever. You must tick / untick these.
On our case for example on all the souncards to be able to use the microphone we must use “Stereo Mix” option instead of “Microhpone” and sometimes it just switches back to Microphone and we have to put it back to stereo mix.
Hope this helps.

I figured out the problem myself.  I was using the microphone integrated with the web cam and it must have been too sensitive.  Since I went to a microphone integrated into a headset, I have not had one problem.

Thanks for all the comments.
